Holderman signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Pirates on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Despite missing several weeks in August with a wrist injury, 2024 marked the best season of Holderman's three-year career. He finished the year with a 3.16 ERA and 1.31 WHIP alongside a 56:25 K:BB over 51.1 innings and is likely to reprise his role as a setup man in 2025.
Colin Holderman Makes return from IL
The Pirates reinstated Holderman (wrist) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.
Analysis: With the active roster expanding from 26 to 28 men Sunday, the Pirates will bring aboard two relievers in Holderman and Ryan Borucki (wrist), both of whom were activated from the IL. Holderman had been on the shelf since Aug. 8 with a sprained wrist but looks to be good to go after tossing an inning for Triple-A Indianapolis in each of his five rehab appearances.
